A priest ordained in the Anglican Church of Kenya since 1998. With an accounting background. Experienced board member, having served in media council of Kenya, Mavoko water and sewerage company, Muthale girls school and St Charles Lwanga school both in Kitui county. Interest in working with the youth and women to help them reach their potential. Training communities for sustainability and helping the people to be good stewards of God's creation. My objective is to see each person being self-reliant. To see good governance principles employed in every sector for transparency and accountability.

Influence of stakeholder involvement on completion of water projects in Kenya: a case Mavoko water and sewerage company in Machakos county

 

Thesis / Project Abstract

In the water sector, there are several challenges, they include water scarcity, water quality, population pressure, climate change among others. The study examines the influence of stakeholder involvement on completion of water projects in Kenya, particularly focusing on Mavoko water and sewerage company in machakos county.

The study was guided by the following objectives: to examine the influence of communication on completion of water projects at mavwasco, to examine the influence of resource mobilization on completion of water projects at mavwasco. To determine the influence of leadership involvement on completion of water projects at mavwasco and to determine the influence of risk management on completion of water projects at mavwasco. The study used three theories: stakeholder theory, system theory and resource-based theory. A discriptive research design was used and the target population was 219, comprising mavwasco staff, machakos county officials, community leaders and project consultants. The study used stratified random sampling to select 82 respondents out which 69 respondents were achieved.upon completion of data collection, questionnaires were coded, analysed using Spss software version 21. Descriptive and correlation statistics were used to detect the relationship between  independent and dependent variables. Both quantitative and qualitative were presented in frequency tables, means and standard deviation. It was concluded that communication with a mean of 3.382 influenced completion of water projects at mavwasco. Secondly the mean of 3.421 revealed that resource mobilization played an important role in completion of water project. A further mean of 2.864 revealed that project leadership was a very important factor in completion of water projects and a mean of 3.311 showed that risk management influenced completion of water project in mavwasco. Correlation results revealed that there was positive relationship between, project communication, resource mobilization, project leadership and project leadership and project risk management. It was concluded that, project communication, availability of resources and leadership played an important role in completion of water projects. It was recommended that there was need to enhance communication during implementation of water projects at mavwasco. It was recommended that further research needs to be conducted in other countries for comparison.
