I am a practicing Civil engineer with 5 years’ experience in roads construction projects. I was formerly Assistant Engineer in Rehabilitation and Upgrading of General Waruinge and First Avenue roads project and later took part in the design and construction of Meru Bypass Roads project as an Assistant Engineer. Currently I am part of the supervision team in the construction of Dockyard Tug jetty project at the port of Mombasa as a Junior Engineer. I am time conscious, proactive, hardworking and always ready to face challenges in and beyond my line of duty.

I look forward to becoming a better project manager someday who is well versant with the conditions of contracts and be in a position to solve issues involving all departments under my supervison.

Reliable road infrastructure is key for any nation’s development. Contractors play a central role in implementation of road infrastructure projects. This study sought to establish the influence of contractor’s capacity on the implementation of road infrastructure projects in Meru County,guided by the following objectives; To determine the influence of contractors’ technical capacity on the implementation of road infrastructure projects in Meru County; To establish the influence of contractors’ financial capacity on implementation of road infrastructure projects in Meru County; To investigate the influence of contractors’ quality management on implementation of road infrastructure projects in Meru County; To determine the influence of contractors’ management structure on implementation of road infrastructure projects in Meru County.The study was anchored on the institutional and resource dependency theories. A correlational research design was used to determine the strength and direction of relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. The target population was 183 and the sample size, arrived at using Alemeda’s formula was 126.A pilot study was carried out in Tharaka Nithi County involving 10 contractors. The validity of the research instrument was checked by an expert in the field and reliability was done using the Cronbach Alpha. Quantitative data collected was coded into SPSS v23, then cleaned and analyzed for descriptive statistics of mean, standard deviation, frequencies and percentages. It was found that contractor’s technical, financial, quality management and management structure capacities accounted for 86% change in implementation of road infrastructure projects in Meru County.The findings will be useful to road contractors and the ministry in charge of roads and the world of academia. The research recommends that a study on other factors influencing the implementation of road construction projects such as the gender perspective in road construction projects.
